Admission Policy for Free Schools

Free Schools are required to follow fair, transparent and inclusive admission arrangements. On a fair basis Secondary Free Schools can adopt feeder primary schools and some academic selection based on GCSE grades or other attainment measure is allowed for post-16 Free School admissions.

Standalone 16-19 Free Schools do not have to abide by the School Admissions Code and are able to select pupils, based on GCSE grades or other criteria. They will also be permitted to interview prospective students. As a general principle and practice SABIS®-managed private and public schools are open to all students. SABIS® administers a diagnostic "placement test" to establish prerequisite knowledge and identify critical learning and knowledge gaps. This information is then used to place students in the proper grades and courses where they can most benefit from the programs offered.
